Traditional Roast Dinners in Madrid!
I went along to the Bristol Bar following a recommendation by a friend but I wasn't holding my breath however I was pleasantly surprised.
The Location and the Decor
The Bristol Bar is a place in the barrio de Chueca which besides boasting Madrid's largest selection of gin it also has a restaurant with decor I would classify as bold: red, black and some chintz creating a surprisingly warm and vibrant atsmosphere. The restaurant area seats perhaps around 40 people with each table hosting different styles of seating - low sunk sofas, armchairs, swivel chairs,...
The Staff
Attentive and polite.
The Menu
Varied and appealing. You can enjoy traditional English Roast Dinners (on certain days of the week or pre-ordering) and if you have the courage you can even order a Kangoroo burger. The puddings were delectable, we chose cheesecake and the compulsory chocolate brownie with ice-cream, both were fantastic.
The pricing
As you would expect, a little over the medium which is the case with most international restaurants in Madrid. In our case a meal for two with starters and puddings cost us 75 euros.
Overall
I'm a hard nut to crack - I love food and I love in particular good food which sticks to traditional recipes and doesn't try to do anything unecessarily fancy and Bristol Bar does just that.
