Social Security Card

If it is the first time you have worked in Spain you must obtain a personal social security membership number. You can arrange this yourself or the company you work for may do it on your behalf.

The Social Security Number identifies the citizen within the social security system. 
To obtain your Social Securtiy Number you will need to go to the office which corresponds to the address where you live: "Administración de la Tesorería General de la Seguridad Social" and take your identity document as well as a completed form TA1 (go to this link to dowload form: www.seg-social.es ) 
Upon completion, you will obtain a social security card with which you can be assigned to a doctor and obtain a health certificate.
